Perfect binding is normally used to assemble books such as novels and is economical for larger numbers of
publications.
A neat and economical binding technique is
Fastback binding.
This produces a coloured tape down the spine and the paper is glued semi-permanently into place. This is favoured by students for dissertation binding.
Other binding techniques include plastic coil and spiral binding. One disadvantage of spiral binding is that the pages don't remain level when open.
You also need to decide on your covers. Transparent plastic covers look professional. They won't work with Fastback binding, though, the heat process damages the plastic. Otherwise, card is a viable alternative: leather textures are available and report covers with a window are common.
Dissertations and thesis's can also be bound. Simple wire binding can be
completed whilst you wait.
If your institution requires gold foiling etc: we can do this but it will take a week and cost about £30 plus VAT for the manufacture of the block and the foiling.
